Safety Committee Minutes – January 8, 2020

The Committee discussed updates to existing business items: (1) evaluating an SOP for campus-wide electrical shut downs, and (2) development of policy and procedures for building access to contractors.

There was one injury reported and the committee reviewed the details of the incident and discussed possible controls to prevent future recurrence.

Eight buildings were inspected and the committee discussed select safety concerns identified for each building.

The Committee discussed new business, including a review of 2019 injury statistics, and a possible tripping hazard at Skillman Library.

The Committee discussed new business, including updates to the tripping hazard at Skillman Library; light bulbs falling from the ceiling in Hugel Hall, and Therese O’Brien from Gallagher provided a review of 2019/2020 workers comp program.

The Committee met via Zoom. The Committee discussed updates to existing business items: (1) evaluating an SOP for campus-wide electrical shut downs, and (2) development of policy and procedures for building access to contractors.

There were two injuries reported and the committee reviewed the details of the incidents and discussed possible controls to prevent future recurrence.

Due to the campus shut down, no buildings were inspected; building inspections shall resume after return to campus.

The Committee discussed safety concerns of employees currently working on campus during the COVID-19 shutdown.

Six buildings were inspected and safety concerns were discussed by the committee.

The Committee discussed safety procedures in place for employees currently working on campus, and the development of additional safety procedures for the eventual return to working on campus.

The committee discussed employee concerns about communication of positive or suspected COVID cases on campus and procedures regarding quarantining and isolation.

There were no new injuries reported. Four buildings were inspected and minor safety concerns were discussed.

The committee discussed ways to prevent students and community members from climbing the fence at the basketball and tennis courts.

The Safety Committee met Via Google Meet. The Committee discussed updates to existing business items: (1) evaluating an SOP for campus-wide electrical shut downs, (2) development of policy and procedures for building access to contractors, (3) preventing people from climbing the fence into the Sullivan Road basketball and tennis courts. There have been no changes to items 1 & 2 since the last meeting, and the committee recommended to repair the fence and add signage to discourage climbing.

There were two injuries reported and the committee reviewed the details of the incidents and discussed possible controls to prevent future recurrence.

Five buildings were inspected and safety concerns and corrections were discussed.

The committee discussed a ladder safety incident at LaFarm, working from home ergonomics issues, and concerns about metal handrails in Markle Parking Deck.

The Safety Committee met Via Google Meet. The Committee discussed updates to existing business items: (1) evaluating an SOP for campus-wide electrical shut downs, (2) development of policy and procedures for building access to contractors, (3) preventing people from jumping over the fence into the Sullivan Road basketball court. There have been no changes to items 1 & 2 since the last meeting, and the fence repairs and signage installation will be completed in the near term.

There were no injuries reported.

Two buildings were inspected and safety concerns and corrections were discussed.

The committee discussed pending repairs to the metal handrails in the Markle Parking Deck.
