Safety Data Sheets (SDS) provide information on the hazards of chemicals and how to use them properly. Thousands of Safety Data Sheets are kept on file in the EHS office.
To request an SDS during normal working hours Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, contact EHS at (610) 330-3330 or stop by the Public Safety office at 901 Bushkill Drive.
During holidays, weekends or evening hours contact Public Safety at (610) 330-5330.
When requesting an SDS please provide chemical name, manufacturer of the product and product number if available.
EHS maintains a subscription to CEMS, a chemical inventory software system designed for colleges and universities. CEMS contains a database of safety data sheets that is searchable by various parameters.
SDS can also be found through a basic google search. Enter the product name and manufacturer and add ‘SDS’ to the search field.
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Pocket Guide gives general industrial hygiene information for hundreds of chemicals and/or classes of chemicals. The guide clearly presents key data for chemicals or substance groupings (such as cyanides, fluorides, manganese compounds) that are found in workplaces.
Please note, this guide offers key facts, but does not give all relevant data.
